If there's such a thing as an afterlife, he won't get past Bobby.

Poles can’t exactly play worse than on Wednesday. I’ll be watching how Kiwior and Bereszynski get on and whether Lewandowska gets any service at all.

UPDATE: A message from Pele indicates he is staying “calm and positive” in the wake of reports he’s in the end-stages of life. Pete said watching Brazil at the World Cup and messages of support have given him “energy.”
His hospital issued a statement saying he is “stable” and still getting treatment, but did not specify what that entailed.
“My friends, I want to keep everyone calm and positive,” Pele said in a statement on Instagram.

Reading a report now that he is stable and responding to treatment. However, personally, I fear the earlier report is true.

I agree, its always the toughest question, but I think Pele was the greatest. Nobody got kicked as hard or as often as this bloke, when he was just a kid. Didn't dive, didn't retaliate (much) just kept going and made mugs of the oppo.
Brilliant, indomitable player.

Would be fate if Brazil played England in the Final. Replay after replay of the 1970 game. Coincidence too that Wales we at the word cup first time after 64 years on when they played against the young 17 year old Pele

Very sad. A Brazil England final would seem a fitting tribute. If he’s not able to watch it from hospital, maybe he’ll be able to watch it with his old mate Bobby.
